Noir would like to present the launch of their debut album TILL YOU SWITCH OFF THE LIGHTS which will be on the 15th of April 2016 at Robert Samut Hall Floriana.

Noir is a jazz trio made up of Kris Spiteri on piano, Edward Ellul on bass and Alex Debono on drums. The pieces in the album were composed by Spiteri except for the band’s rendition of iċ-Ċimiterju by the band Brodu.

The new style of the band blends classical music, rock and jazz together to create a sound which verges on cinematic music. Ideas flow freely through these genres in order to create one sonic picture. In the album one can also hear the voice of award winning writer Immanuel Mifsud reading excerpts from his poems accompanied by improvisations by the the band.

The artwork for the album’s booklet was designed by the Anglo-Lebanese artist Sean Mackaoui, who lives and works in Madrid, Spain. The works form part of the suite “Unchained” presented in the Tamsin Wilkinson Editions

Noir’s first performance was at the Malta Jazz Festival of 2006. From then on the trio had several gigs on the island, including ‘Longing’, a concert at St James Cavalier in 2011. Noir features on Nadine Axisa’s album ‘Velvet’ with two of their original tracks: ‘Stormy Night’ and ‘Birds’.

In 2015 Noir played again at the Malta Jazz Festival and in May 2016 they will be performing the album Till you switch of the lights at My Unique Jazz Festival in Berlin.

The launch shall commence at 8:00 and the doors will be opened at 7:30. The band shall play all the album live. Tickets can be bought from at 15 euro ( price includes the album)
